The DAE-800 (Disk Array Enclosure), utilizing CRU's advanced passive backplane technology for high performance Ultra Wide SCSI and LVD (Ultra2 Wide SCSI) storage devices, is designed specifically for high capacity RAID applications. It can be configured as a stand-up tower or a horizontal rackmount unit. Each configuration provides a total of eight half-height 5.25" drive bays accessible from the front. The standard configuration has seven integrated CRU patented DataPorts with the top 5.25" half-height drive bay available for installing either an external RAID controller, tape drive or a CD-ROM drive. A configuration with all eight integrated CRU patented DataPorts is also available.

The dual 300 watt power supply system of the DAE-800 is one of the highest quality fault-tolerant power supply systems available. It offers true two way load-sharing and hot-swappable capability. If one of the power supplies should fail, the system produces an audible alarm and an LED signal, which would allow users to change failed power supplies without turning the power off. Three high capacity ball bearing fans keep the system operating at cool temperatures. The back panel offers various cable connector options. Through the expansion SCSI connector, the DAE-800 can be connected to additional enclosures to support unlimited storage needs. With all the features designed by CRU, the DAE-800 series offers the most cost-effective RAID-ready enclosure for Ultra Wide and LVD technology.
