Security
A key feature of the
SHI.COM web site is a highly sophisticated, customizable security system. Our security
model permits each user within a customer's account to be granted differing levels of
access to individual features. We offer four primary roles that form the basis for
users rights to access the system:
- Browsers
Search for information about products, read about licensing programs, and status orders.
This level of security is normally used by organizations that want access to the
information available from the web site, but use some other mechanism for creating and
placing orders.
- Quoters
Create and save quotes, access all sources of information. Companies often grant this
access to users outside their purchasing department. Quoters can find products and create
quotes, then forward those quotes to purchasing employees who have the ability to place
orders.
- Purchasers
Create and place orders, retrieve quotes created by other users and convert them to
orders, access all other sources of information on the web site.
- Managers
Create and place orders, retrieve quotes created by other users and convert them to
orders, access all other sources of information on the web site, manage the access of
other users from their organization. Managers can create or revoke users' accounts,
reset passwords, and adjust user access rights.
Users' rights to access each individual feature of the system can be adjusted
individually; we can tailor the web site to work the way our customers want it to work.
Users can be granted the right to see information from only their own login, the
organization account, or from the larger enterprise of which the organization is a
part.
Security options are accessible thru Asset Services; choose Manage Accounts from
the menu. As a guest user you will be unable to manipulate any of these security features.
